when people ask, “where are you from?”
I can never give a simple answer. I grew up overseas as a DoDDS brat, spending my formative years in Germany and then high school in Okinawa. Those experiences helped shape me and my multi-passionate loves of travel and culture, new flavors and experiences, and curiosity for the wonder and mystery woven through worlds and within each of us.
For now I take root in the Lowcountry,
with my soul tribe—
my partner in life and love, a Leo Sun. He brings warmth, joy, and light to balance my introspective, crepuscular nature.
It’s here, in this place of tidal marshes, moss-draped oaks, estuaries, gator-filled swamps, and beaches alive with wonder, that I’ve rooted my practice and where moonmere was born.
as children, we naturally follow our curiosity.
We listen to what excites us, what feels right, and what we sense in our hearts. But as we grow older, that connection can get quieter—buried under expectations, self-doubt, and the noise of daily life. For me, oracle cards became the doorway back. They helped me slow down, listen within, and rebuild trust with myself.
that journey opened into something deeper.
What began with watching the moon and noticing the cycles of nature grew into a desire to understand the skies themselves and my place within them. Astrology became a language for what I was already feeling—guiding me toward alignment with my higher self and higher purpose.
the naming and shaping of moonmere™
And so moonmere is born from my desire to pour my energy into that which lights me up from my core outward, and helping others find, hear, and trust their own inner voice as well as their place within the cosmos.
Her name comes from a weaving of three loves:
🌙 Moon
My quiet constant—shape-shifting and steady all at once. The moon teaches me to notice cycles and thresholds, the in-between places where transformation happens.
🐹 Meer
A play on the German word Meerschweinchen, which means “little sea pigs.” My guinea pigs are my petite familiars and a central part of my path. Over the years I’ve shared life with 14, and today I share it with five—Tinsel, Orca, Lilitu, Aslan, and Shere Khan—who bring joy and keep me grounded every day.
💧 Mere
The reflective waters, acting like a mirror to the night sky above and to the self within. I live beside such a mere, a pond, that changes daily, a natural sanctuary for Lowcountry wildlife—Medusa the solitary anhinga, Lepus the marsh rabbit mama, great horned owls, sky-puppy bats, yellow-bellied sliders, and countless frogs. It means a lot to me that moonmere can give back to this land and its creatures.
moonmere is a sanctuary
for reflection, exploration, and permission. A space to meet your shadows without fear, to reclaim the parts of yourself you’ve been told to hide, and to step into your authentic, unashamed, beautifully whole self. I don’t come as someone with all the answers, but as a fellow traveler on this winding path.
